Welcome to PowerPoint tutorial! In this article, we’ll walk you through designing a professional radial cycle diagram and animating it using Morph animation in Microsoft PowerPoint. This step-by-step guide includes creating custom shapes, adding images, styling, and applying seamless transitions.

Step 1: Set Up a Blank Slide

  1. Open PowerPoint and create a new presentation.
  2. Go to the Slide Layout section and choose Blank to work on a clean slide.

Step 2: Insert SmartArt

  1. Go to the Insert tab, then under the Illustrations group, click on SmartArt.
  2. In the SmartArt window, select the Cycle category.
  3. Choose the Radial Cycle SmartArt and click OK.
  4. PowerPoint will insert the diagram onto your slide with four outer text boxes by default.
  5. To add more, click inside the SmartArt text pane and press Enter to create additional boxes (up to six).

Step 3: Convert SmartArt to Shapes

  1. Click on the SmartArt graphic.
  2. Right-click and select Convert to Shapes.
  3. Now, each element is individually editable and movable.

Step 4: Add Background Circle

  1. Go to Insert > Shapes and choose the Oval.
  2. Hold Shift while drawing to create a perfect circle.
  3. Align it with the center using the smart guide lines.
  4. Fill the shape to match the background and send it to back.

Step 5: Remove Unwanted Shapes

  1. Double-click a light blue circle. When you see yellow handles, press Delete.
  2. Repeat for all unwanted shapes.

Step 6: Style the Background Circle

  1. Select the main circle.
  2. Set Shape Fill to None.
  3. Set Shape Outline to Gold, and change Weight to 3 pt.

Step 6: Style the Background Circle

  1. Select the main circle.
  2. Set Shape Fill to None.
  3. Set Shape Outline to Gold, and change Weight to 3 pt.

Step 7: Create Outer and Inner Borders

  1. Duplicate the main circle (Ctrl + D) and align it.
  2. Hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift, drag a corner to reduce its size slightly.
  3. Set Outline Weight to 1 pt.
  4. Duplicate again, this time increase the size slightly using the same method.

Step 8: Add Center Circle

  1. Duplicate the center circle again, reduce its size, and fill it with white.
  2. If there’s a gap between circles, slightly adjust the sizes.

Step 9: Add Small Decorative Circles

  1. Insert small oval shapes (hold Shift) and position them on the edge of the outer circle.
  2. Set Fill Color to Gold, Outline to White.
  3. Duplicate and place them on all four sides, using alignment guides for precision.

Step 10: Add Images to Outer Circles

  1. Go to Insert > Pictures > This Device to add your image.
  2. Resize the image while holding Shift.
  3. Right-click and Send to Back.
  4. Ungroup the outer shapes.
  5. Place the image over a circle, select both, go to Shape Format > Merge Shapes > Intersect to crop the image.
  6. Bring the image to Front.
  7. Repeat for all outer images.

Step 11: Add Center Text

  1. Insert a Text Box, type “DAILY”.
  2. Change font to Montserrat, make it Bold, Uppercase, and set size to 36 pt.
  3. Center it inside the circle using Align Center and Align Middle.

Step 12: Final Adjustments and Duplication

  1. Adjust spacing or sizing if text appears too close to the edge.
  2. Select all elements and move them as needed.
  3. Duplicate the entire illustration using Ctrl + Shift + Drag.
  4. Compare variations and choose the preferred one.
  5. Group the chosen illustration (Ctrl + G) for easier handling.

Step 13: Prepare Slides for Morph Animation

  1. Duplicate the current slide (Ctrl + D).
  2. Move the grouped illustration to the left.
  3. Add a title like "START A DAY" using a large Montserrat Bold, Uppercase, 54 pt font.
  4. Add a dummy content text box with 16 pt, black 25% lighter text.

Step 14: Create Additional Slides for Animation

  1. Duplicate the slide 5 more times (6 total).
  2. Each outer circle image will represent one slide.

Step 15: Animate with Rotations and Titles

On each slide:

  • Slide 2:
    • Ungroup illustration.
    • Increase one circle to 1.94 in width/height.
    • Set Position: H = 1.99 in, V = 1.49 in.
    • Change title to “WORKING HOUR”.
  • Slide 3:
    • Rotate illustration to 300°, ungroup, fix image rotation.
    • Same size/position. Title: “BREAK TIME”.
  • Slide 4:
    • Rotate to 600°, update image and title: “WALK TIME”.
  • Slide 5:
    • Rotate to 900°, title: “OUTSIDE”.
  • Slide 6:
    • Rotate to 1200°, title: “END DAY”.

Step 16: Add Gradient Background (Optional)

  1. On Slide 2, right-click and choose Format Background.
  2. Select Gradient Fill.
  3. Set Type to Linear.
  4. Customize gradient stops and colors as desired.

Step 16: Format Slide 2 Background with Gradient Fill

  1. Right-click on Slide 2 background → choose Format Background.
  2. Select Gradient Fill.
  3. Choose Linear as the gradient type.
  4. Adjust gradient stops:
    • Stop 1: Color – Dark Blue (e.g., #0F2027)
    • Stop 2: Color – Light Blue (e.g., #2C5364)
  5. Set Direction to left-to-right or top-to-bottom depending on your design.

Step 17: Resize and Reposition Elements on Slide 2

To create the morph effect:

  1. Resize the big title or graphic (from Slide 1) so it appears smaller or more centered on Slide 2.
  2. Reposition shapes (e.g., move icons to the corners or align them in a new layout).
  3. Keep the same shapes and text boxes—just change their size, color, and position. This is key for Morph to work.

Step 18: Animate with Morph Transition

  1. Select Slide 2.
  2. Go to the Transitions tab.
  3. Choose Morph from the transition list.
  4. Under Effect Options, set to:
    • Objects (for general shapes)
    • Or Words/Characters if working with text
  5. Set the duration (e.g., 1.5 seconds).

Step 19: Add Optional Extra Elements on Slide 2

You can add new elements (icons, graphics, etc.) that fade in as part of the morph.

  1. Add a new object on Slide 2 that wasn’t on Slide 1.
  2. During Morph, PowerPoint will automatically fade-in new objects.

Step 20: Preview the Morph Effect

  1. Click Slide ShowFrom Current Slide.
  2. Watch the morph animation in action.
    • Objects will smoothly move, resize, or fade from Slide 1 to Slide 2.
  3. Adjust placements or duration if needed.
